Akhil Shahani is the Director of The Shahani Group, a leader in the education sector, whose members are on the management of around 24 colleges in India. He is deeply passionate about the education sector, which his family has been involved with in the last 60 years. As the Director at Kaizen Management Advisors Pvt Ltd, India’s first private equity fund that solely focuses on the education sector, he has been overseeing investments into start-ups that impact the education sector. He is also actively involved with SAGE Foundation and The Shahani Trust as the MD and Trustee respectively. The Shahani Academic & Global Empowerment (SAGE) Foundation is a non profit organization involved in various charitable activities in education, healthcare, rural development and others and the Shahani Trust is a private family trust that focuses on education, healthcare and low cost housing.
He has received several honors and awarded for this outstanding contribution to the education sector. Notably he has received the Bharat Gaurav Award (2007) and the American Biographical Institute ‘Indian Man of the Year’ (2006).
Raj Jain is Chief Executive officer of Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd. “The Times Group” is the largest media company in India.
Prior to joining Times of India Raj Jain was designated as Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of Bharti Retail Limited a company which operates 200 Retail stores under the Easyday Banner.Raj also served Walmart India as President and also held the position of Managing Director & CEO of Bharti Walmart Pvt. Ltd. for over six years. He spearheaded Walmart’s entry into India and successfully established wholesale cash-and-carry, backend services & consulting businesses of Walmart in India. Prior to Walmart, Raj was Asia Pacific Region Head, Marketing & Supply Chain at Whirlpool Corporation in Shanghai. During his 10 years at Whirlpool he also served as Managing Director & CEO of Whirlpool of India Ltd.
Raj started his career at Unilever as a Management Trainee. His successful and distinctive career spanning over 16 years in Unilever in India and U.K. included several key managerial positions in Sales, Marketing and Supply Chain. Raj is the Ex-Chairperson of the Board of American Chamber of Commerce & Industry (AMCHAM) and also served on the advisory board of HOPE Foundation in India. Raj holds an Engineering Degree from Delhi University and an Executive MBA degree from the Kellogg School of Business. He is married and has two children.
Sanjay Shroff has a degree in Chemical Engineering from Rutgers University, followed by an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University (USA). He jointly founded Ffolio along with Yashodhara Shroff and has, in particular, assisted with the brand management and marketing aspects at Ffolio since inception, taking an active role in operations as well. Besides retailing, his other business activities are in manufacturing and trading – with international technical and marketing tie- ups in all these ventures. The operations are managed by professionals with Sanjay assisting with strategy and guidance, customer and vendor relationships. Subodh Maskara, is an entrepreneur who has started several businesses in his career spanning 20 years. From making television sets for leading brands, an internet company, a publishing venture, an event management company, angel investing in start-up companies, to starting a factory that recycles plastic bottles, using a pioneering and patented technology.
He did his MBA in 1994 from the prestigious Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University, USA. In 2011 he decided to step back from the hectic corporate life to pursue his passions. He then went on to act in a theatre play “Between the Lines” and is currently busy creating a global exchange of theatrical content through CinePlay.com. Vijay is co-chief executive officer of Goldman Sachs India. He joined the firm in 1998 in Equity Capital Markets. Vijay moved to the Equity Derivatives team in Hong Kong in 2000 and to the Asian Special Situations Group in 2006. He became head of the Securities Division in India in 2009 and co-chief executive officer in 2011. Vijay was named managing director in 2007 and partner in 2010. Prior to joining the firm, Vijay worked in investment banking at Credit Suisse First Boston in New York. Vijay earned undergraduate degrees in electrical engineering and finance from the University of Pennsylvania in 1994 and an MBA from Northwestern University in 1998.
